Another successful Thought Leadership with Dame Mary Marsh

This morning the Thought Leadership Series welcomed Dame Mary Marsh who spoke on Challenges for leadership and governance in a start-up organisation that has moved into the growth phase.

Dame Mary has been the Founding Director of the Clore Social Leadership Programme since 2008 and will soon be moving on the focus on her non-executive roles after being a chief executive non-stop for the last 25 years. Clore Social is a charity which identifies, connects and develops aspiring leaders in the social sector (charities, community organisations, social enterprises).

Previously Dame Mary was chief executive of NSPCC headteacher of two comprehensive schools. Amongst many other things, Dame Mary is a non-executive director of HSBC Bank plc and a member of the Governing Body at London Business School, where she did an Executive MBA.

The breakfast was hosted by the Dorchester Hotel in the Penthouse and Pavilion. As the guests enjoyed a beautiful spread,  Dame Mary shared her experience on leading a start-up, with particular emphasis on the importance of continuous change and review. During the breakfast, Dame Mary covered a range of questions that every social entrepreneur faces in the early stages including; how to identify a resilient and consistent business plan, how to build a company identity and ethos and what kinds of personalities work well in picking your advisory board.

A hugely interesting and informative talk enjoyed by all, as usual a great way to start the morning.
