Sparks Charity Clay Pigeon Shoot

On Tuesday the 24th September we were delighted to attend the fifth annual Sparks Clay Pigeon shoot at the Royal Berkshire School.

The morning of clay shooting was followed by a scrumptious three course lunch, with some wonderful prizes to be won in the silent and live auctions. The aim of the event was to raise £80,000 to fund a research project into a new stem cell treatment for children with Krabbe disease. After a wonderful day we were pleased to hear the announcement that collectively we raised the goal of £80k.

Krabbe disease is a devastating and rare condition where in most cases, children sadly lose their lives. Recent research has suggested that increasing the number of helpful stem cells reaching a child’s brain could help to alleviate some of the worst symptoms. The funds raised at the event will allow researchers to test this theory in the lab, gathering crucial evidence on its safety and effectiveness that is needed before the treatment could be trialled in children with Krabbe disease.

A big thank you to everyone that joined us at the shoot and for all those that supported the auction and raffle.
