What a year it was! We put on over 60 events, launched the Adoreum Club North in Manchester, re-launched in Zurich and welcomed over 100 new members. We now have members based in London, Manchester and the North West, Zurich, NYC, LA, Charleston, Amsterdam, Paris, Berlin and Dublin.
January saw a flurry of Adoreum Club Sum of Six Lunches at M Threadneedle Street. Whilst some Covid restrictions were still in place, we were desperate to get at least a few of you together and it was a privilege to be able to catch up with friends once again. As you know, one meaningful introduction to the right person can change the course of a business or project, and it is our aim to accelerate this serendipity for our members. Aligning with freshly set New Year affirmations, February’s events followed a wellness and mindfulness theme including an insightful and intuitive Upskills session on Sleep from James Leinhardt, founder of Levitex and a panel on how we can better cultivate Self-Love from our Empowers community at The Sloane Club. We also welcomed our exclusive PA/EA network members to MasterPeace Studios for a Mindful Monday painting workshop.
As we came out of lockdown, we wanted to explore human connection more, given we had all been so deprived of it. From a professional perspective, relationships between individuals and brands have been a fundamental part of the work we do. Beyond this, the individual personal relationships we formed in work and at play – or best when both are combined – have gone a long way to shaping us, our world, and its outlook. Thankfully, the bigger in-person Club Breakfasts and Lunch events were back by early March, and we celebrated the release of our first white paper in collaboration with Adoreum members, The Future Laboratory over breakfast at Home House.
Speaking of human connection, the energy of the room was electric at our takeover of the legendary Italian restaurant, Circolo Popolare, for the spring Adoreum Club Lunch; we are still dreaming about the incredible Lemon Meringue Pie (!). We closed the first quarter with our Northern Launch and the inaugural Adoreum Club Lunch North at Gaucho Manchester. Since then, we have been overwhelmed with interest and brilliant introductions to new members and partners. Thank you to all of those who have and are continuing to support us as we build our regional presence – it was lovely to share some festive cheer over Christmas Drinks at Dakota, Manchester last week. We are delighted to now have event hubs in both Zurich and Manchester, as well as our home in London.
The arrival of Spring saw our first business trip abroad since Covid. We visited Switzerland in April and then again in November for an outstanding presentation from Adoreum Member Mintus, who are unlocking the fine-art market for investors through fractionalisation. Our sincere thanks go to esteemed and long standing Adoreum Member, The Dolder Grand, for their exceptional hospitality during both visits; there is truly no better setting for a Club Lunch than the stunning hotel.
With the arrival of Summer came long Club Lunches at Revolve and M Victoria along with complimentary access to London’s most established and applauded Summer art fair, Masterpiece London, for all Adoreum Members. From art to fashion, it has been fabulous to work with award winning fashion designer, Christopher Raeburn, this year who was our guest speaker for September’s Club Breakfast at Mortimer House, during which guests enjoyed a fireside chat exploring his Responsible Design ethos hosted by Silvia Pavoni, Founding editor of the FT’s Sustainable Views. How could we forget the vibrant September Club lunch held in Knightsbridge at The Aubrey, the incredible Japanese restaurant located in the Mandarin Oriental, bringing together 150 of our community to connect and foster business acceleration over Japanese izakaya.
Another insightful breakfast on the topic of social issues was our ‘Funding for Women’ breakfast at The Sloane Club. Improving gender equality could create 10.5 million jobs by 2050 and boost the EU economy by between €1.95 and €3.15 trillion. Gender parity is not only good for inclusion it is good for business. Women-led companies attract more investment at later stages, yet at early-stage women find it harder to secure funding. It was brilliant to explore what we can be doing to shift the balance and we plan to revisit this important topic again in the New Year.
The year’s Adoreum Exclusive’s included a 24-hour Rest and Restore Retreat at The Falcon Hotel set in the stunning Castle Ashby Estate, Northamptonshire, a decadent pre-opening lunch at Alex Dilling, Hotel Café Royal, and the 2022 Modern Affluence Summit at 180 Strand.
Adoreum is built on the interconnected ideas of mutuality and compassion, with philanthropy being one of the core values that connects our community. We are passionate about supporting charities and social businesses and are pleased to have done so together with you in 2022 through a variety of events and fundraising activities. In addition to supporting the opening of the fantastic café with a conscience, Fair Shot in Mayfair, with a series of further intimate Sum of Six events, we also enjoyed a number of inspirational charity-led Club Breakfasts including Debate Mate at Home Grown, Computer Aid at The Berkeley and 20/20 Change x Global Dignity at Birch Community to name a few. We were also delighted to visit The House of St Barnabas, the unique members club on a mission to battle homelessness, to co-host an electric Investor Dinner with Club Member, Creative UK.
The Investor Dinner series continued with Piers Linney speaking on his entrepreneurial journey at the newly opened M Restaurant Canary Wharf and with David Tabizel, Simon Jordan and Simon Morris discussing the Future of Media and Entertainment at The Wolseley in partnership with Pictet.
With December came the performance of the year by The London Essentials at Old Sessions House and the marvellous Adoreum Christmas party that ensued. It was fabulous to come together for an evening of celebration and festive cheer, reflecting on our collaborative success from 2022.
We’re looking forward to a fabulous 2023 filled with connectivity and collaboration.
