On Thursday 26th January, we had the pleasure of hosting our first Adoreum Empowers event for 50 of our trailblazing female members at Biscuiteers Belgravia.
It was our first event with fellow Adoreum members, Biscuiteers, and their largest ever event in their beautiful Belgravia store. After welcome drinks, we enjoyed a delightful afternoon tea as we listened to our brilliant speaker and valued Adoreum member, Jennifer Schneider – founder of the Loved Object – lead an engaging conversation on how to construct an influential and impactful image in 2023. It was great to hear of Jen’s journey into fashion, with the two things that changed her life – a copy of British Vogue and a pair of Karen Millen trousers – acting as catalysts for this chosen career path. Jen’s talk was hugely informative and provocative and certainly got us thinking about how we present ourselves and our image in society. Jen’s spoke of ten implementable lessons to help us construct our own unique and personal image. Here are a few of our favourites:
Choose to see the world and those in it through the lens of beauty and love. Come with curiosity and openness. Meet people where they are and strive to see the best in them, celebrate their uniqueness and brave actions, even if they burn your eyes!
Use clothes as an extension of your personality: colour, texture and symbolism are all great ways to express yourself and create visual interest. Choose your colour and explore the full range of hues and saturations until you find ones that make you light up. The ones opposite to your complexion will make you look grey and sickly. The ones that make you look alive and bright are the right ones. Scarves are also a really great way to do this for many colours at once. Enlist a friend and make a day of it!
Look at the natural world for inspiration and information. All the principles of beauty are inspired from nature. If you want to learn how to create better balance, design a colour palette, explore textures, nature has all the answers. Go for long walks and look at all the lessons nature can teach you.
