On Thursday 21st October we joined our Club community at @so.shiro Gallery for a reception and tour of ‘Layers’ – the first UK solo show by Cuban artist @alexandrearrechea. The concept of the show is to celebrate the spirit of Havana through art, design, and furniture. Exploring this dynamic city from Arrechea’s perspective and formidable artistic expression of his native home.
On show were over 40 pieces of works that range from watercolours, bronze sculptures, textiles, 3D printing technology, traditional mosaic craftsmanship, metal work and furniture making. The result was an extraordinary array of works that tell different insightful stories about the amazing city of Havana.
We were honoured to be joined by Alexandre himself who took us on a guided tour of the townhouse adorned with his masterpieces. We listened to his inspirations whilst enjoying Cuban cocktails before enjoying delicious Cuban canapes. It was a truly special evening.
